Kenneth K. Almas, 72, of Utica, formerly of South Carolina, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Ken was born in Utica on March 1, 1937, the son of Harold and Naomi (Evans) Almas. He was raised and educated locally. Ken raised a family that includes a daughter and five sons. He moved to South Carolina and was a self-employed in construction and carpentry. In 1989, Ken married Judy Duncan in Charleston, SC. Mrs. Almas passed away in 2007. Ken was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and just being out in nature. He was of the Episcopal faith. Ken is survived by a daughter, Kristine Almas, Utica; five sons, Scott Almas, Utica, Gary Almas, New Hartford, David Almas, NC, Todd Almas, NC, and Wayne Almas, NC; one brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Donna Almas, Hamilton. Also surviving are eight grandchildren. Mr. Almas' funeral service will be held Tuesday evening, July 28, 2009, at 7:00 pm at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. Interment in Westmoreland Union Cemetery will take place at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 5 - 7 pm prior to the funeral service.
