Alice C. Sweet, 103, of Herkimer and formerly of Utica, passed away on Monday, April 16, 2018 at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center. Alice was born in Lowell, MA on January 4, 1915, a daughter of Michael and Zofia (Bugiel) Laboda. On September 2, 1940 she was united in marriage to Nicholas F. Sweet at St. Charles Church in Pittsfield, MA, a blessed union of 49 years until his death on April 25, 1989. Alice began her working career at General Electric and then later until her retirement with Sturges Manufacturing. She was of the Catholic faith. Alice is survived by her two sons, Frederick Sweet and Marjorie Cooksey, of North Utica and James Sweet and Mariam Scharfe, of Glendale, CA, a grandson, Michael Sweet and wife, Beth, of TX and a great granddaughter, Sara Sweet, of TX. Alice was predeceased by a sister, Stasia Hunt and a brother, John Loboda. Mrs. Sweet’s funeral will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at 11:00 at the Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum of Holy Trinity Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
