Elizabeth M. (Betty) Caryl, 86, of Deerfield passed away Thursday, July 2, 2009 at The Pines in Utica. Betty was born in Utica on June 15, 1923 a daughter of Elbert J. and Anna (Knott) Montena. At St. Joseph's Church Utica on September 21, 1946 Betty married Donald J. Caryl a blessed union of 53 years until his passing away on May 11, 1999. For many years until her retirement in 1981 Betty was employed at Children's Hospital and Rehabilitation Center in Utica. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph's and St. Patrick's Church in Utica. Betty is survived by her three daughters and son-in-law; Dona Caryl, Deerfield, Sharon Caryl, Deerfield and Patricia and Patrick Kilpeck, Richmondville, NY, three grandchildren, Caryl, Terri and Kristen Kilpeck and a nephew and his wife, James and Betty Ann Colby, Cape Vincent, NY. Mrs. Caryl's funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at 10:30 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., North Utica and at 11:00 from St. Joseph's - St. Patrick's Church, Utica. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Tuesday morning from 9:30-10:30. Those so wishing may make donations to the Alzheimer's Association in Betty's memory.
