Milton B. Morrissey, 76, passed away on Monday May 4, 2009 with his loving family by his side. Milt was born in Utica on October 15, 1932 the son of the late Michael A. and Emily (Branton) Morrissey. He received his education in Utica and was a graduate of Utica Catholic Academy. Milt served in the Army during the Korean War. In 1956 Milt married Mary Lourdes Mann; in 1970 he married Gail Todd. During the 1960's Milt owned and operated Morrissey's Bar and Grill in North Utica, then for over twenty years he served as the registrar for the City of Utica. After his retirement he worked in several restaurants in the Utica area. He was a member of St. Anne's Church, Hinckley until its closing. He was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous. Milt truly enjoyed his family and friends, Stewart's coffee and was a lover of dogs and horse racing. Milt is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law; Lorrie and Richard Lenaghen, Prospect, NY, and Theresa and Steve Hyatt, New Port Richey, FL, three sons and daughters-in-law; Michael and Susan Morrissey, Utica, Patrick and Rosemary Morrissey, Utica and James and Angel Morrissey, North Utica, 17 cherished grandchildren; Evelyn, Christopher, Daniel, Nathaniel, Andrea, Justin, Jade, Patrick, Jena'e, Danielle, Maria, Michael, April, Rebecca, Brianna, Brittney and James, five great grandchildren; Cira, Cayden, Kaitlyn, Breanna and Sierra. Milton was predeceased by a granddaughter; Stephanie Hyatt. Mr. Morrissey's funeral with Military Honors will be held on Friday, May 8, 2009 at 8:45 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., North Utica and at 9:30 from St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish, Utica. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, North Utica. Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday from 3-7. Those so wishing may make donations to Hospice & Palliative Care Inc. or the Humane Society in Milts memory.
