William E. Krause, 82 of New Hartford passed away on Friday April 24, 2009 at the Siegenthaler Center. William was born in Whitesboro on January 11, 1927 the son of Edwin and Iva Mae (Joslin) Krause. He was a graduate of Whitesboro High School. Mr. Krause attended Defiance College in Ohio and later graduated from Utica College. William served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. On May 4, 1957 William married Patricia Ann Gillmore at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Utica; together they shared 36 years until her passing in 1993. For over twenty five years William was employed with the Utica National Insurance Co. until his retirement. in 1992. William was an active member of his church and community; a member of Sacred Heart Church until its closing, a life long member of the New York Mills Optimist Club and a member of the Claims Association of Central New York. William is survived by his six children and their spouses; Charles Krause and wife Callie of Port Chester, NY, Karen Sweeney and husband Patrick of Mt. Laurel, NJ, Gretchen Lewis and husband Robert of Sarasota, FL John Krause of Utica, Margaret (Peggy) Coleman of Elmira, NY and William Krause of Kenbridge, VA five grandchildren; Kathryn Sweeney, Alex Lewis, P.J. Lewis, Anika Krause and Rachel Krause, a special family friend; Catherine Daly, Mohawk, NY, a sister; Norma Hecker and husband Paul of Canandaigua, NY and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Krause's funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at 10:15 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and at 11:00 from Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 2222 Genesee St., Utica. Burial will be in St. Anne's Cemetery, Hinckley, NY. Calling hours at the funeral home are Monday from 2-4 & 7-9. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the New York Mills Optimist Club, Hospice & Palliative Care Inc. or the Utica Symphony in William's memory. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the many people who gave Bill wonderful care throughout the years.
