Mr. Stanley Rumont, age 90, of Utica, NY passed away on January 16, 2009 at the Masonic Care Community where he had been living for the past six years. Stanley was born July 15, 1918 in Cedarville, NY, the son of Felix and Tekla Rumont. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean War, achieving the rank of Lieutenant, Senior Grade. In 1947, he received his Master's Degree in Education from New York University. He went on to work at the US Naval Research Laboratory in Maryland, where he retired in 1980. On December 29, 1948 Stanley married the former Audrey Cummings in St. Joseph's Church in Utica, a loving union of 60 years. In addition to his wife Audrey, he leaves his nieces, Susan Spencer and Sandra Cummings and his sister-in-law, Joan Cummings. Stanley was predeceased by his brother Peter Rumont, his sister Jeanne Rumont, brother-in-law, J. Robert Cummings and nephew John R. Cummings. Mr. Rumont's funeral will be held on Tuesday January 20, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica and 11:00 at St. Peter's Church where his mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. A spring interment will be held in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Frankfort. Calling hours at the funeral home are Tuesday morning from 9:30-10:30 prior to the funeral mass.
