Mr. Richard Earl Richmond, 68, of Schuyler, passed away on Monday, March 19, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica. Richard was born in Utica, on July 26, 1949, the son of Earl and Elizabeth (DeCota) Richmond and received his education in Utica schools. Richard honorably served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. On July 15, 2007, Richard was united in marriage to Michele M. Wegrzyn. For many years, he was employed with O.W. Hubble Company and most recently with Orion Bus Industries. Richard was a member of American Legion Whitestown post 1113 and American Legion Post 1376 in New Hartford. He was an outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, four wheeling and golfing. He was of the Catholic faith. Mr. Richmond is survived by his beloved wife, Michele; one daughter, Samantha Wegrzyn of Utica; two sons, Michael Wegrzyn and his girlfriend, Brittany Getz of NY Mills and Jason Wegrzyn of Schuyler; two cherished grandchildren, Abigail “Penelope” and Michael “Stanley”; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Dorothy Bienkowski of Schuyler, Sharon and Joseph Moses of Marcy, Beverly Blum of NY Mills and Diane and Ray Hughes of Schuyler; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Cindy Richmond of West Winfield as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins including a special nephew who Richard always referred to as “his brother from another mother”, Scott Blum. He was predeceased by his parents, Earl and Elizabeth and one sister and three brothers-in-law, Barbara and Francis Carey, Benny Bienkowski and Charles Blum. Memorial visitation for family and friends are Friday, March 23, 2018 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica, followed by a memorial service at the conclusion of visitation. His burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
