Mary T. Usyk, 77, of Marcy, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Mary was born in Utica on January 17, 1931, the daughter of Frank and Bessy (Wojanowski) Bialas. She was raised and educated locally, graduating from Whitesboro High School. On January 21, 1950, Mary married Michael J. Usyk. She worked as the "lunch lady" for Whitesboro schools for 32 years, retiring in 1985. Mary belonged to both the Marcy and the Floyd Senior Citizens. She was a member of St. Peter's Church in North Utica. Mary is survived by her husband of almost 59 years, Michael Usyk, Marcy; three daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Ann and Dave Constable, Holland Patent, Michele and Frank Reile, Russia, Sue and Dan Derdzinski, Newport; seven grandchildren, Renee, Frank and his wife, Heidi, Eric, Tony, Adam, Cheri, and Carly; one great grandchild, Owen; two sisters, Edna Zarnoch, Whitesboro, Franny Duquette, Frankfort, as well as by many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by two brothers, George and Tom Bialas. Mrs. Usyk's funeral will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2009 at 9:00 am at St. Peter's Church, North Utica where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Whitestown. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Road, North Utica on Wednesday from 4 - 7 pm. Those wishing may donate to the Maynard Fire Dept. in Mary's memory. Mary's family extends a special thank you to St. Elizabeth Medical Center's ICU and also to Nana for all of her help and devotion in caring for Mary.
