Clifford T. "Bub" Fletcher, 79, of New Hartford, passed away, Saturday, January 10, 2009 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center. Cliff was born in Syracuse on September 14, 1929, the son of Clifford J. and Margaret (O'Conner) Fletcher. He moved to Utica with his family as a young child, was raised and educated locally attending Blessed Sacrament School and Manlius Pebble Hill military school. Cliff then went on to receive his BS from Utica College. On June 7, 1958, Cliff married Martha Novak in St. Francis de Sales Church, Utica. He went to work for the family business, Fletcher Ford and later worked for Mel A. Gooch and then Brian Barr Cadillac. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church in New Hartford. Cliff had many hobbies and enjoyments, including hunting with his buddies at Twitchell Lake, fishing, spending time at his camp, and working on cars. He cherished the time he spent with his family, whether it be a family gathering, holidays, or just visiting with his children or grandchildren. Cliff especially enjoyed listening to Irish music. Cliff is survived by his beloved wife of over fifty years, Martha; four children and eight grandchildren, Anne and Bruce Wais, and their children, Christine, Derrick, and Michael; Clifford J. and Suzanne Fletcher and their children, Abigail and C.J.; Ellen and Richard Dziekowicz and their children, Sarah and Mary; Stephen Fletcher and his son, Thomas, Stephen's girlfriend, Kellie and her daughter, Cassy; cousins, Margaret (Mimi) and Dr. George Burnett, and Richard and Sheila Fletcher. Also surviving are many dear friends. Cliff is predeceased his parents, Clifford and Margaret Fletcher and by a sister, Margaret Mary Fletcher. Mr. Fletcher's funeral will be held Thursday, January 15, 2009 at 10:30 am at St. John the Evangelist Church, New Hartford where his Mass of Christian Burial will take place. Interment will take place in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitestown. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica on Wednesday from 4 - 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may donate to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation, the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, or to St. John the Evangelist Church in Cliff's memory. Cliff's family offers a special thank you to Dr. Anderson, Dr. Samad, and Dr. Mani for the care and kindness shown to both Cliff and his family. Also thanks to all of the devoted nurses and aides of the Allen Calder Wing, 3rd floor East for the care and compassion given to Cliff during his stay.
