Frederick M. Feisthamel, 79, of Remsen passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 9, 2009 at his home. Frederick was born in Utica on July 16, 1929 the son of the late Frederick C. and Violet (Thomann) Feisthamel. Frederick served in the Army during the Korean War. In West Winfield, NY on November 19, 1955 he married Mary Janet McCall a blessed union of 37 years until her passing away on May 2, 1992. In 1954 Frederick was appointed to the New York State Police. In 1955 he transferred to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and served here for 27 years until his retirement. After his retirement Frederick became a New York State Corrections Officer. He attended St. Joseph's - St. Patrick's Church, Utica. Frederick was an avid hunter, fisherman gun collector and a member of the NRA. Frederick is survived by his two sons; Peter Feisthamel, Utica and Kurt Feisthamel, Remsen, and three grandchildren; Kristen Feisthamel Jacob McElhinney and Mathew McElhinney. Besides his wife Frederick was predeceased by his daughter; Mary Lynn McElhinney in 1990 and his son William F. Feisthamel in 1970. Mr. Feisthamel's funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at 8:45 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and at 9:30 from St. Joseph's - St. Patrick's Church, Utica. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Yorkville. Calling hours at the funeral home are Tuesday from 4-7. Those so wishing may make donations to Hospice & Palliative Care in Frederick's memory.
