She graduated from Proctor High School and the Utica School of Commerce and began a career in bookkeeping. She married Richard A Buehler, of Utica, and had six children together; they were married for 54 years when Richard passed away on December 25, 2005. Mary is survived by her brothers Vincent and (Virginia Romanelli), John, and Joseph Romanelli, and sister, Ida Bottaro. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. While growing up, Mary was a source of great support to her family; she was a great foundation of tireless strength to the family she later raised and was happiest when at home surrounded by her large extended family. She made every holiday special with her homemade Italian cuisine and enjoyed traveling and shopping. Mary embodied and taught real family values and was a compassionate counselor & comfort to others. Mary's interests included being a homemaker, her children and grandchildren, celebrating holiday traditions, Italian culture, sewing, reading, shopping and music. She cherished the raising of her six children, all of whom, because of her experiences in the Depression, she proudly sent to college. Mary later worked at Miller Street School, the Boston Store and for Oneida County, before retiring the paid component of her work. Mary was a member of Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic church. Mary lived her life in the spirit of Christianity. The family sincerely gives thanks to the compassionate staff of The Avenue for their genuine care of our mother and for their tireless support to the family during Mary's visit there.
