Obituary of Raymond A. Schloop

Mr. Raymond A. Schloop, Sr., 72, of N. Utica, passed away on Friday, March 16, 2018 at his home with his loving family by his side.
Raymond was born in Utica on January 11, 1946, the son of Edgar and Carolyn (Light) Schloop and received his education in Utica schools. Raymond honorably served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and Korean War. On January 20, 1968, Raymond was united in Marriage to Rosanne C. Spewak at St. Mary’s Church in Waymart, PA. For 10 years, he was employed with Remington Arms in Ilion. Raymond was a member of American Legion Utica Post 229 in North Utica, American Legion Post 1376 in New Hartford, VFW in Clinton and the Lions Club in New Hartford. He was of the Catholic faith.
Mr. Schloop is survived by his most caring and loving wife of 50 years, Rosanne; two daughters, Renee Dye of Utica and Corinne Schloop of Utica; two sons, Steve Schloop of Utica and Raymond A. Schloop, Jr. and his fiancée Angel Mashtare of Whitesboro; 12 cherished grandchildren, Steve II, Brenna, Dalton, Britany, Crissy, David, Raymond III, Dylan, Kaylen, Brian, Brad and Zachary; one sister, Susan Sproli of NY Mills; four sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, Judy Scrie of Utica, Maryann Schloop of Chadwicks, John and Judy Spewak of Newfoundland, PA and Louise Beyer of Dallas, PA; a daughter-in-law, Karrie Schloop of Utica and a son-in-law, Mike Dye of FL as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins including a special cousin, Lawrence Chambers and his wife Linda of Syracuse. He was predeceased by a daughter, LeeAnn Hurd, a granddaughter, Adrianne Dye and two brothers, LeRoy Schloop and Edgar Schloop.
Mr. Schloop’s funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Historic Old St., John’s Church in Utica where his Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. His rite of Committal and burial, with military honors will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Whitesboro. Calling hours for family and friends are Wednesday from 10:00-12:00 noon at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica prior to the funeral Mass. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
