Mrs. Verna J. Weir, 83, of Frankfort, passed away Friday, November 7, 2008 at her home. Verna was born in Taberg, NY on May 14, 1925 the daughter of Chester and Alexandria (Wasilewski) Shanoski and received her education in local schools. On December 3, 1955 Verna married John W. Weir, a union of 51 years until John's death in 2006. For many years she was employed with Bank of America in Utica until her retirement. Verna was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Utica. Mrs. Weir is survived by her brother, Bernard Christy of Fl; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Weir and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Jerome Christy. Mrs. Weir's funeral will be held on Saturday November 15, 2008 at 9:30 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Utica. Calling hours for family and friends are Friday from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
