Obituary of Eugene R. Marcelli

Mr. Eugene R. Marcelli, 69 of Marcy NY passed away on Thursday November 6, 2008 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare in New Hartford. Eugene was born in Utica on October 16, 1939 the son of Eugene and Laura (Daniels) Marcelli. He was raised locally, was a graduate of Proctor High School and MVCC. Eugene honorably served in the US Army from 1957-1958 and again from 1961-1962. On June 24, 1960 Eugene married Virginia Collins at Sacred Heart Church in Utica. At one time he was employed as a car salesman with various local car dealers and for many years as a mail handler with the US Postal Service retiring in 2004. He proudly served as president of the local Mail Handlers Union, was a member of American Legion Post 229, N. Utica and was an avid fisherman. Mr. Marcelli is survived by his beloved wife Virginia; three sons, Eugene Marcelli of N. Utica, David Marcelli of Utica and Michael Marcelli of Marcy who was Eugene's special caregiver; his "daughter of the heart", Ann Marie Murphy of S. Trenton; three sisters Antoinette Raspante of Clinton, Celeste Myslewicz of Utica and Belle Dennehy of Queens and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant daughter, Michelle Marcelli and a brother George Marcelli. Memorial calling hours will be held on Monday November 10, 2008 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family. Please omit flowers and consider a donation to the American Cancer Society in Eugene's memory.
