Edward Richard "Dick" Roberts III, 64, of Frankfort Center, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 4, 2008. Richard was born in Utica on May 3, 1944, the son of Edward R., Jr. and Elizabeth (Johnstone) Roberts. He was raised and educated locally, graduating from Whitesboro High School and going on to attend MVCC. On July 3, 1965, Richard married Barbara Cameron in St. Paul's Church, Whitesboro. He then began working for Dictaphone Corp. in New Hartford. Dick later went to work for Business Service Corp. in Utica. For several years, Dick enjoyed driving school bus for the Frankfort schools. His last employment was with Jay-K Lumber in New Hartford. Dick was a Charter Boat Captain of his pride and joy, "Ole Salty", on Lake Ontario. He particularly enjoyed teaching people how to fish. Dick was an avid amateur radio operator and loved woodworking. Dick will be remembered as a meticulous man who paid special attention to detail and quality, but mostly, as a great dad and a loving husband who was Barbara's rock. Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara, Frankfort Center; two sons, Richard Roberts, Salt Lake City, Utah, Christopher Roberts, Columbus, North Carolina; a sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Philip Rolchigo, Frankfort; a brother and sister in law, William and Marlea Roberts, Tampa, Florida. A memorial service will be held for Richard on Friday, November 7, 2008 at 4:00 pm at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Road, North Utica. Interment will take place in Frankfort Center Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home, Friday afternoon from 2 - 4 pm, prior to the memorial service.
