Anne K. (Roach) Towns, 93, a resident of the Martin Luther Home, Kirkland, formerly of Utica, passed away Thursday, October 23, 2008, at the home. Anne was born January 21, 1915 in Utica, the daughter of Frank and Ellen (O'Neill) Roach. She was raised and educated locally, graduating from Utica Catholic Academy and later from Excelsior School of Business. On February 20, 1971, Anne married Carl W. Towns, in New Hartford. Mr. Towns passed away in 1993. She was employed by both St. Elizabeth Hospital and St. Luke's Hospital as a switchboard operator. She retired from St. Luke's while working in the admitting office. Anne was a member of the Ladies Auxiliaries for both the Eagles Club and the Moose Lodge. She is a member of Historic Old St. John's Church in Utica. Anne is survived by one sister, Eleanor Letteer, Texas; one sister-in-law, Mary Alice Roach, New Hartford; several nieces and nephews, Stephen and Catherine Roach, New Hartford, Joan E. Pryor, New Hartford, Terry and Ann Letteer, Texas, and Melvin and Kathy Letteer, Kentucky. She is predeceased by her brother, James F. Roach, and by a brother-in-law, Leroy Letteer. Mrs. Towns funeral will be held on Monday, October 27, 2008 at 10:00 am at Historic Old St. John's Church, Utica, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitestown. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica, on Sunday afternoon from 2 - 4 pm. Those wishing may donate to a charity of your choice in Anne's memory.
