Mrs. Shirley B. McKenzie, 89, of North Utica passed away on Saturday September 13, 2008 at St. Luke's Hospital with her loving family by her side. Shirley was born in Kenosha, WI on August 1, 1919 and was raised and educated in Des Moines, IA. In 1954 in Long Beach, CA Shirley married Murdock (Mac) McKenzie a blessed union of 37 years until his passing away in 1991. Shirley's life was filled with tremendous joy that showed in the love she shared with her children and grandchildren. Shirley is survived by a daughter; Karen Stedman, Utica, 3 sons and daughters-in-law; Phillip and Bev McKenzie, Conklin, NY, Richard and Billie Jewett, AZ and Milton and Deborah McKenzie, Sauquoit, 12 grandchildren, especially acknowledging a special grandson, Colton Murdock McKenzie, many great grandchildren and special friends; Marge and Richard Piper, Utica. Shirley was predeceased by an infant son Daniel. A funeral service for Mrs. McKenzie will be held on Tuesday September 16, 2008 at 10:00 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., North Utica. There are no calling hours. Burial will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park. Those so wishing may make donations to their favorite charity in Shirley's memory. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Shirley's home health care aides, Gerri and Michele for their watchful eyes over the years and Shirley's daughter-in-law Deborah for the wonderful care and many countless hours she gave to her.
