Doris E. Senft, 95, of Whitesboro, formerly of Clark Mills and Mt. Vernon, passed away peacefully, Saturday, September 6, 2008 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, with her family by her side. Doris was born January 16, 1913, in Clark Mills, the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Murphy) Batson. She was raised and educated in Clark Mills, graduating from Clark Mills High School and later from finishing school in Rome. In 1936, Doris moved to Mt. Vernon, NY and was employed as a nanny. There she met her husband-to-be, Floyd A. Senft. The couple were married on August 6, 1937 and shared a union of 43 years, until his passing in 1980. In 1960, Doris and Floyd moved back to Clark Mills. Doris was then employed at the Clark Mills Elementary School. She was a member of the Church of the Annunciation in Clark Mills. Doris was also a sports enthusiast, enjoying baseball and hockey, especially the NY Yankees and NY Rangers. Doris is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Ellen Senft, with whom she resided, Whitesboro, Barbara Ann Epp, Westmoreland, Jeanne Marie and Gordon Lallier, Clinton. Also surviving are her cherished grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a sister, Florence Mulligan, and two brothers, Kenneth and Howard Batson. Mrs. Senft's funeral will be held at the Church of the Annunciation, Clark Mills, (date and time to be announced), where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Clinton. There are no calling hours. Those wishing may donate to the American Diabetes Association or to the Stevens-Swan Humane Society in Doris' memory. Doris' family extends their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Dr. Robert Burke and to the doctors, nurses and staff of St. Elizabeth Medical Center's ER and 3rd floor for the care and kindness given to both Doris and her family. Also a special thanks to Kunkel Ambulance and the Whitesboro Fire Department for their quick response as well as compassion shown to Doris and her family.
