Obituary of Mildred F. Brothers

Mrs. Mildred F. Brothers, 84 of Utica passed away on Monday August 11, 2008 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center with her loving family by her side. Mildred was born in Montezuma, NY on August 4, 1924 the daughter of William and Florence (LaFleur) Newtown and received her education in Port Byron, NY. On January 10, 1942, Mildred married Frederick Brothers, a union of 41 years until his death in 1981. She was employed with the State St. Mill, later with E. Kramer & Sons clothing store and for many years with Utica Cutlery Company retiring in 1987. Mildred was a parishioner of St. Joseph St. Patrick Church in Utica, was an avid NY Yankee fan and enjoyed bowling in her younger years. Mrs. Brothers is survived by two daughters, Linda Brothers of Whitesboro and Susan Brothers and her fiancée Paul Wilk of Utica; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bernard and Diane Brothers of Virginia Beach, VA and Larry and Patricia Brothers of Yorkville; five grandchildren and their spouses, David and Stephanie Brothers of Norfolk, VA, Brenda Williams of Virginia Beach, VA, Renee and Daniel Emery of Whitesboro, Lisa and Mark Weller of Marcy and Kristine and Michael Arcuri of Marcy; 11 great grandchildren, Raymond Brothers, Janie Brothers, Megan Emery, Daniel Emery, Tori Emery, Austin Williams, Nathaniel Williams, Dallas Williams, Drew Weller, Chloe Weller and Nicholas Arcuri; one sister, Blanche Paquin of Norfolk, NY; one brother, Clifford Newtown of Brasher Falls, NY and one sister-in-law, Marie Newtown of NY Mills. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by five sisters, Lillian Rusaw, Dorothy Newtown, Pauline Sobieraj, Irene Jones and Beulah Dudek and two brothers, Rex Newtown and Harold Newtown. Mrs. Brothers' funeral will be held on Friday August 15, 2008 at 8:45 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and 9:30 at St. Joseph St. Patrick Church where her mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro. Calling hours for family and friends are Thursday 4:00-7:00 p.m. In lieu of Flowers please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society in Mildred's memory.
