Mr. Mathew Piechowicz, 81 of Marcy passed away on Tuesday July 29, 2008 at his home with his loving family by his side. Mathew was born in Utica on May 30, 1927 the son of Joseph and Theophilia (knopka) Piechowicz and received his education in Utica Schools. He honorable served in the US Army from 1945-1946. On January 28, 1950, Mathew married Jane Sychtysz in St. Patrick's Church in Utica. For many years he was employed with local contractors. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph St. Patrick Church in Utica and enjoyed gardening. Mr. Piechowicz is survived by his beloved wife, Jane; one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Karl Carpenter of Fairport, NY; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Melanie Piechowicz of Marcy; six cherished grandchildren, Christopher Barone of AZ, Elizabeth Barone of Fairport, Samantha Barone of Fairport, Adam Piechowicz of CA, Stephen Piechowicz, US Navy assigned to the USS Enterprise, and Gregory Piechowicz of Marcy; one brother and sister-in-law, John and Josephine Piechowicz of Yorkville; in-Laws, Ted and Betty Sychtysz of Marcy, Louise and Frank Pohorecki of Whitesboro and Mickey Sychtysz of Utica and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Piechowicz's funeral will be held on Saturday August 2, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph St. Patrick Church where his mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet cemetery, Whitesboro. Calling hours for family and friends are Saturday morning from 8:30-10:00 at the Heintz Funeral Home 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica.
