Peter C. Brown, Jr., 76, of North Utica passed away at home on Monday July 14, 2008 with his loving family by his side. Peter was born in Utica on May 5, 1932 the son of Peter C. and Mary (O'Rourke) Brown, Sr.; He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. At Blessed Sacrament Church, Utica on September 14, 1963 Peter married Julia Shields. For many years until his retirement in 1991 he was employed with the New York Telephone Co. Peter was a member of St. Mark's Church, North Utica the Men's Club of the Church and American Legion Post #229. He was an avid sports enthusiast who favorite teams included the Red Sox, Mets and Giants but above all else Peter was very proud of his Irish heritage. Peter is survived by his wife, Julia, his three daughters and two sons-in-law; Mary Beth and Kevin Dowling, Marcy, Carolyn Brown, Utica and Amy and Louis Plizga, Stittville, his cherished grandson who was the light of his life, Dominic Steppello, Utica, step grandchildren; John, Kevin and Jonna Dowling, two sisters; Geraldine Weimer, Utica and Brenda Lambert, Utica, in-laws; Mary and Don Fairbrother, Marcy and Joyce and Frank Robertello, Utica and many nieces and nephews. Peter was predeceased by a brother; William Brown and a sister; Margaret Eddins. Mr. Brown's funeral with military honors will be held on Thursday July 17, 2008 at 9:15 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., North Utica and at 10:00 from St. Mark's Church, North Utica. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro. Calling hours at the funeral home are Wednesday from 4-7. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Irish Cultural Center of the Mohawk Valley, P.O. Box 584, Marcy, NY 13403. The family would like to thank Dr. Samir Desai and Dr. Scott Brehaut for all the care and compassion they gave to Peter.
