Frank J. Lentricchia, 94, formerly of North Utica and Clearwater, Florida, who last resided with his daughter, Elaine, in Baldwinsville, NY, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at the Rosewood Heights Healthcare Center in Syracuse, NY. Frank was born in Utica on June 20, 1914, the son of Augusto and Pauline (DeCastro) Lentricchia. He was raised and educated locally. In 1935, Frank married Anna Yacovella in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Utica, and shared a union of 69 years until her passing in 2004. Frank, a painter by trade, was employed by the Masonic Home and General Electric Co., retiring in the mid 1970's. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and of the Green Briar Club. He was an exceptional card player, and a lifelong NY Yankee fan. Frank was affectionately known as "Poppie" by his cherished grandchildren. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Utica. Frank is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and John Haynes, Baldwinsville; his son and daughter-in-law, Frank R. Lentricchia and Jody McCauliffe, Durham, NC; five grandchildren, Shelly Navin, Alison Goudreault, Maeve, Amy, and Rachael Lentricchia; his sister, Angeline Lentricchia, Clearwater, FL; his brother and sister-in-law, Dan and Josephine Lentricchia, Palm Harbor, FL. He is also survived by several great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Besides his wife, Frank is predeceased by two brothers, William and Dick Lentricchia, and a sister, Eleanor Notaro. Mr. Lentricchia's funeral will be held Saturday, July 12, 2008 at 9:00 am at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Utica where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Entombment will take place in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Whitestown. Relatives and friends may call at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Road, North Utica, Friday evening, from 5 ? 8 pm. Those wishing may donate to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association in Frank's memory.
