Wallace W. Howard, age 77, passed away peacefully at his home with his loving family at his side, on Friday December 7, 2007 after a courageous battle with leukemia. Born in Dolgeville on January 30, 1930 the son of the late Edward and Edythe Warner Howard, Wallace was raised in Salisbury Center and educated in Dolgeville, N.Y. Wally was discharged in 1949, but was recalled into active duty from 1950 to 1952 to serve in the Korean Conflict. Always being a proud Marine he constantly told stories to his grandchildren and friends about his experiences in the Corps. Wally married Aline Wagner of Little Falls on August 30, 1952 and shared a loving union for 30 years. After Aline's passing in 1983 Wally was blessed to find a loving lifetime partner in Carolyn Baron of Yorkville. Wally was employed by the Cherry Burrell Company for many years and attended evening classes in Computer Sciences at the Utica School of Commerce and the Herkimer County Community College. In 1971 Wally left Cherry Burrell and began a career as a machinist at Mohawk Data Sciences where he worked until his retirement in 1990. After retirement, Wally received an Associates degree in Construction from Mohawk Valley Community college. Wally was an avid golfer and enjoyed the many years spent with his friends in the "Over the Hill Gang" and "Super Seniors". His patriotic affiliations included the American Legion Post #1375, New Hartford. He was also an active member of the New York Mills Optimist Club, Utica Maennerchor and a past member of the Masons. Wally was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Church. He was a very devoted and loving man. He enjoyed good times and always had the ability to make everyone laugh with his stories and special sayings. He held a very special place in the hearts of his family and friends. Always speaking kindly of everyone, he was a good listener and everyone respected and looked to him for advice when they needed it. Wally is survived by his loving partner Carolyn Baron; his daughter and her husband Debra and Jodi Tellstone of Victor, New York; and his grandchildren Matthew, Joshua and Aline Tellstone.
