Mrs. Marie T. Davies, 84, formerly of Utica and Old Forge, passed away on Friday, March 2, 2018 at the Presbyterian Home. Marie was a loving mother and devoted wife of the late Carl (Bud) Davies. and was dearly loved by her family and friends. Marie was born in Utica on July 14, 1933, the daughter of the late Merrill and Theresa (Der) Hartley. She was raised and educated in Old Forge and Utica and attended UFA. On October 12, 1974, Marie married Carl (Bud) Davies and had a blessed union of 13 years. For over 20 years, until her retirement, Marie was employed as a nurse with Faxton Hospital in Utica. She was a talented writer and wrote a column for the Adirondack Express publication. Marie loved writing poetry, gardening, excelled at scrabble, reading to children for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and especially loved the Adirondacks. She was an inspiration to all and will be remembered for her creativity, resourcefulness and eagerness for learning. Marie leaves behind wonderful memories for her children to share and remember her life. Marie is survived by her children, Arthur (Irene) Tooker, Joanne (John) Rosko, Janice (George) Malavasic, Theresa (Dave) Preston, Jim (Maureen) Tooker, David (Karen) Tooker, Ellen (Doug) Haigis, and John (Carla) Hall as well as many beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also surviving are her step-children, Richard Hall, James Hall, Daniel Hall, Carl Davies, III, Deanna Davies and Kristin Dombrowski. She was predeceased by her brothers, Merrill Hartley and David Hartley and step-son, David Hall. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 9, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. Her interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Utica.
