Mrs. Sharon A. Zawatski, 67 of W. Schuyler passed way unexpectedly on Wednesday September 12, 2007. Sharon was born in Utica on September 19, 1939 the daughter of Charles M. and Josephine (Canaan) Steph. She was raised locally and was a graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School. On November 8, 1958, Sharon married Richard C. Zawatski at St. Francis de Sales Church in Utica. For many years, Sharon was employed with Roberts Hardware and later with G.P.O. Federal Credit Union until her retirement in 2002. She enjoyed flowers and gardening and was a parishioner of St. Peter's Church, N. Utica. A loving a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister, Sharon tirelessly cared for her family and was the first to help those in need. Mrs. Zawatski is survived by her beloved husband, Richard; her mother, Josephine Steph, W. Schuyler; one daughter, Lisa Zawatski, Mohawk; one son and daughter-in-law, Richard Jr. and Christina Zawatski, Rome; two cherished grandsons, Jason Zawatski and Shawn Zawatski both of Mohawk; four sisters and five brothers-in-law, Patricia Rich, Sylvan Beach, Carol and Fred Roth, Old Forge, Nancy and John Gazzal, Utica, Diana and Stephen Goss, Austin, TX, Gary Zawatski and his wife LouAnn, Inlet, NY and Ben Zawatski, Jr. and his wife Marilyn, Watertown and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father Charles Steph and a sister, Linda Mae Marmelstein. Mrs. Zawatski's funeral will be held on Saturday September 15, 2007 at 9:15 a.m. from the Heintz Funeral Home 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica and 10:00 at St. Peter's Church where her mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro.
