Serafino "Sam" C. Lupia, 77, of Oriskany Falls, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2008, at his home. Sam was born July 10, 1930 in Sersale, Italy, the son of Michael and Emilia (Scheri) Lupia. He was raised and educated in Italy. On August 12, 1962, Sam married Lucia A. Scarpino. Mrs. Lupia passed away in 1994. Sam wanted a better life for his family. So, in October of 1970, he took the path that has become the story of America. He brought his family across the ocean to America in search of a better life. Although the hardships were many, Sam never gave up. He worked hard his entire life as a carpenter and cabinet maker. Sam's three children that made the trip across the ocean have prospered as a result of his hard work and the strong work ethic instilled in them. In his later years, the greatest joys for Sam were spending time with his eight grandchildren and working in his garden. Sam was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Oriskany Falls. Sam leaves three children and their spouses, Michael and Patricia Lupia, Clinton, Emilia and Louis D'Ambro, New Hartford, Lina (Carmela) and Joseph Duh, Sauquoit; eight grandchildren, Dylan and Nicole Lupia, Francesca, Christina, Olivia, and Louis D'Ambro, and Kara and Elizabeth Duh; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Carmela and Roy Celia, Illinois, Rina Monteleone, Italy. Also surviving are special cousins, Carmen and Lucille Pellegrino, Deansboro as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. Lupia's funeral will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2008 at 10:30 am at St. Joseph's Church, Oriskany Falls where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Oriskany Falls. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Heintz Funeral Home, 10 East Park Row, Clinton, Wednesday evening, from 4 ? 7 pm.
