Mary E. (Scott) Gachowski, 82, of Port Charlotte, Fl. and Whitesboro, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2008 at Peace River Medical Center in Port Charlotte, Fl. Mary was born in Utica on March 14, 1926, the daughter of Henry F. and Barbara (Barr) Ball. In Utica on June 21, 1952, Mary married Eugene T. (Scotty) Scott. Mr. Scott passed away on April 6, 1981. On November 2, 1982 in Utica, Mary married Joseph Gachowski. Mr. Gachowski passed away in May 1994. For many years until her retirement in 1982, Mary was employed at Hamilton Digital. She was a parishioner of St. Peter's Church, North Utica and was a member of the Whitesboro Seniors. One of Mary's greatest assets was her sense of humor. Her daughters will always cherish the memories of the many concerts they attended with her. Mary is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen M. and Norman A. Piacentino, Deerfield, Barbara J. and Stephen DePalma, Denville, NJ, a son, Kevin M. Scott and Donna Bradley, Barneveld, a granddaughter, who was the light of her life, Sarajean B. DePalma, NJ, one sister, Arlene Rinehard, New Hartford and one sister-in-law Henrietta (Bea) Szot, Clinton. Mary was predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy Barone and Catherine Kaczmarek, and two brothers, John F. Ball and Francis Ball. A memorial mass will be held on Wednesday March 19, 2008 at 11:00 at St. Peter's Church, North Utica. Memorial calling hours will be held Wednesday morning from 9-10:30 at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Road, North Utica. Those so wishing may make donations to the DAV in Mary's memory.
