Margaret A. McSherry Whitesboro Margaret A. McSherry, 72, of Whitesboro, passed away Friday, June 1, 2007 at the Masonic Care Community. Margaret was born in Utica on August 4, 1934, the daughter of Joseph T. and Joanna (Lanz) Bailey. She was raised and educated locally, a graduate of Whitesboro High School and attended Utica College before going to the Marcy School of Nursing. On November 21, 1959, Margaret married Richard L. McSherry in St. Paul's Church, Whitesboro. She worked in the Children's Unit of Marcy Hospital before going on to work for Dr. Andrew Johnston in Utica. Margaret was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post 1376, New Hartford, a member of the YWCA in Utica, and a member of the Red Hats women's club. She belonged to St. Paul's Church, Whitesboro. Margaret's happiest times were spent with her friends in card club, the Red Hats, water aerobics, crafts, golf, and travel. She and her husband spent the past thirteen years of their retirement enjoying the winters at the Sea Crest Resort in Myrtle Beach, SC. She brought love and comfort to all she met. Her quick smile made everyone love her. The love she doled out came back to her tenfold during her last year of life as she was surrounded by love and affection through cards, phone calls, visits, and emails from so many people that she had touched throughout her life. Your kindness and compassion helped keep her spirits up during her long illness. Margaret is survived by her beloved husband Richard, Whitesboro; three loving daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah (Debi) McSherry and her husband, John Simonds, Troy, NY, Maureen (Mimi) and Ed Lysogorski, Ballston Lake, NY, Sandra (Sandi) and Ike Yashinski, Frankfort; five cherished grandchildren, Brian, Kayla, and Sandi Lysogorski, Victoria and Derek Yashinski; a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph T. and Laura Bailey, Gilbert, SC; a sister-in law, Janice Williams, Fort Mill, SC; as well as by many nieces and nephews. Margaret's funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at 10:45 am from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro Street, Utica and at 11:30 am at St. Paul's Church, Whitesboro where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitestown. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, from 4 ? 7 pm. Those wishing may donate to the ALS Association of Utica or to Juvenile Diabetes Association of Saratoga or to the Margaret McSherry Nursing Award, c/o Masonic Care Community, 2150 Bleecker St., Utica, NY 13501 in Margaret's memory. Margaret's family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the nurses and staff of the Masonic Care Community, especially the Albany unit, for the excellent care and many kindnesses shown to both Margaret and her family. Also a special thank you to Rev. Robert Guldenschuh, Jr. of the Whitesboro Baptist Church and his congregation for their vigilance and gifts.
