Kathryn (Kay) M. Newman NY Mills-N. Utica Mrs. Kathryn (Kay) M. Newman, 85, of NY Mills, formerly of N. Utica died at home unexpectedly and peacefully on Friday August 31, 2007. She was born May 24, 1922 the daughter of James E. and Marguerite (Wilbur) Doyle. On October 11, 1941 Kay married the love of her life, Harold E. Newman, a blessed union of 41 years filled with fun loving times in the Herkimer Rd. homestead. Kay was a loving mother who devoted her life to her family. She was an active member of the N. Utica Community, involved with the PTA of Seymour School and a room mother many times over. She was also a faithful member of Historic old St. John's Church, Utica. She was affectionately known as Mother Kay to the Dutkiewicz family of Herkimer Rd. Kay was kind, generous and always first to help a friend in need. She focused on the good in people and all who knew her loved her. Mrs. Newman is survived by her four daughters and their spouses; Phylis A. (George) Korrie of Deerfield, Dawn M. (Robert) Anderson of Whitesboro, Joan N. (James) DiGristina of Schuyler and Marylou (Steven) Mercurio of New Hartford; A loving daughter-in-law, Amy Jo Newman-Marra and her husband James of San Jose, CA; her grandchildren: Johanne Korrie and her husband Wil Oberlies, Donna Korrie, Robert (Diana) Anderson, Lisa (John) Molnar, Paige (Jeff) Pastorella, James (Darcy) DiGristina, Lee DiGristina, Kathryn (Todd) Beaton, Emily and Daniel Mercurio; great grandchildren, Cassie, Jordan, Olivia, Christina, Kara, Renee, John, Colin, Jenna, Abbey, and Tanner and a sister, Patricia Nemier of Cleveland, OH. She was predeceased by her husband Harold, her son, Glen, 4 brothers, James, Edward, Martin and Richard and a sister, Marguerite Doyle. In keeping with Kay's wishes there will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial celebrating her life will be celebrated on Tuesday September 4, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at Historic Old St. John's Church, John St., Utica, NY. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Clayville NY.
