Jennie (Mallozzi) Sansone-Graziano-Giannico Utica On the beautiful morning of June 17th, 2007, Jennie Giannico, age 87, made the transition from life on earth to eternal life in heaven. Born in Utica, the daughter of Leonard and Mary Mallozzi, Jennie endured many youthful hardships but managed to graduate with honors from Proctor High School's first graduating class. She was accepted into Hartwick College but family concerns prevented her college endeavors. In 1945, Jennie married Michael Sansone, and together had two sons, Michael Joseph, and Jon (Jack) Leonard Sansone. Her husband Mike passed away in 1955, and her son Michael passed away in 1991. In 1962, Jennie married Robert (Bob) Graziano. Mr. Graziano passed away in 1974. In 1982, Jennie married Patsy Giannico. Mr. Giannico passed away in 1999. Jennie, a devout Catholic, found strength in her religion and in her church, Blessed Sacrament, in Utica. A domesticated, progressive, strong-willed woman, she enjoyed travel abroad and wintering in Florida. Her greatest joy was entertaining as well as being in the good company of others, including her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jennie had a passion for writing and produced several nationally acclaimed poems and stories that are still in print today. Over her long working career, she was employed at the Savings Bank of Utica, The Observer-Dispatch, Munson-Williams-Proctor Institute, Utica School of Commerce, night school at UFA, all leading up to forming the Medical Assistants Program at MVCC. Among Jennie's survivors are her son Jack Sansone, Clinton, Robin Sortino, Utica (who she considered her adopted daughter), grandchildren, Kate Maunz and her husband, Andrew Bon, and their children, Sophia and Dorje, Kate's mom, Jill Daniels, granddaughter, Janene Tirado and her husband, Phil, Utica. She also leaves her brother and lifetime friend, Albert Mallozzi, Utica, her favorite nieces, Gerry Geroux and Patty Mallozzi and Patty's fiancé, Steve Graham; nephews and nieces, Ed and Val Zammiello, Florida, Bob and Carol Geroux, Naples, NY, Leonard Mallozzi, Bath, NY, David and Dana Mallozzi, Utica, Gerald Mallozzi, Florida, sister-in-law, Arlene Mallozzi and her family, John and Gail Malozzi and family, as well as by many relatives from her previous marriages. She is predeceased by sisters and husbands, respectively, Anna and Frank Zammiello, Josephine and Gerry (Boston) Geroux, her brothers Angelo Mallozzi and Albert Mallozzi, Sr., and special nephew, Mark Mallozzi. Jennie also leaves her spiritual advisors, Monsignor George Shaheen, Syracuse, and Rev. Robert Kelly, Rome. Mrs. Giannico's funeral will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2007 at 8:45 am from the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., North Utica, and at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, New Hartford, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Utica. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday evening, from 4 ? 7 pm. A heartfelt thanks to the wonderful care of the nurses and staff of 3C at St. Elizabeth Medical Center and the special care and understanding of Drs. Garg and Desai. Also, special thanks to Barb and Ron Ricci for their continuous support and help, and special friends, Delores Grimaldi, Rita Reuhl, and Ang Pazzolla, for their forever support. Donations would be appreciated to St. Elizabeth Medical Center's Special Care Unit, in Jennie's memory.
