John (Jack) C. Eichler, 86, of Lutz, Florida, formerly of Utica, New York, passed away Friday, March 21, 2008 at the Fletcher Nursing Home in Tampa, Florida. Jack was born in Newark, New Jersey on May 17, 1921, the son of Matthew and Catherine (Dillon) Eichler. He was raised and educated in Utica and after graduating high school served his country with the US Marines during World War II. On November 5, 1944, Jack married Mary Anne Lynch in Brooklyn, NY. He was employed with Tristate Industrial Laundry. Jack and his wife spent their lives in the Utica area until 1985 when they retired to Florida. In the Utica area, Jack had belonged to the New Hartford Fire Dept., the Knights of Columbus in Utica, and the Malsan-Jones VFW Post 7393 in New York Mills, as well as a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Utica. Upon moving to Florida, he joined his local American Legion as well as St. Mary's Church in Lutz, Florida. Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Anne, Lutz, FL; three daughters and a son-in-law, Mary Anne Van Schaick, Florida, Kathleen (Kate) and John Nicoletta, New Hartford, NY, Susan Eichler, Lutz, FL; five sons and three daughters-in-law, Gregory and Christine Eichler, Utica, NY, Thomas and Karen Eichler, Yorkville, NY, Kevin Eichler, New York City, NY, John (Jack) and Linda Eichler, Connecticut, James Eichler, Utica, NY; a sister and brother-in-law, Catherine and Jerome Jenny, Florida; a brother, Edward Eichler, Florida; sisters-in-law, Irene Eichler, New Hampshire, Alice Weckerly and her husband, Ed, Pennsylvania, Joan Dyer and her husband, Bill, Sauquoit, NY. Also surviving are nine cherished grandchildren and two great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jack is predeceased by his son, Robert Eichler; a son-in-law, Stephen Van Schaick; a brother, Matthew Eichler; a sister, Margaret Eichler; and two sisters-in-law, Doris Eichler and Emily Ritzel. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary's Church, Lutz, FL at 10:00 am on Wednesday, March 26, 2008. Services in Utica, NY and interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitestown, NY will continue at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Heintz Funeral Service, Inc., Utica, NY.
