Penny Lee (Jones) Herr NY Mills Mrs. Penny Lee (Jones) Herr, 57 of NY Mills passed away on Tuesday January 2, 2007 at her home after a long courageous battle with lung cancer. Her loving family was by her side at the time of her passing. Penny was born on August 13, 1949 the daughter of Wilton and Dolores (Barry) Jones. She was raised in Utica and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. On December 14, 1967 Penny married Keith C. Herr in Utica a loving and devoted union of 39 years. At one time she was employed with Lally Manufacturing in NY Mills and for 18 years with Mele Manufacturing in Utica until her retirement. Penny devoted her life to her family, especially her grandchildren. She especially enjoyed vacationing with them, attending their baseball games and other activities in their lives. Mrs. Herr is survived by her beloved husband, Keith; one daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Joe Guba, Marcy; one son, Brian Keith Herr and his fiancée Brenda Strack, Tupper Lake, NY; four cherished grandchildren, Joey, Justin and Jordan Guba and Bella Klaire Herr; six sisters, her twin, Wendy Kirley and her husband Dave, Pulaski, NY, Lynda Rocker and Bernie Shorey, Steuben, NY, Terry Lyness and her fiancée Jerry Atwell, Sauquoit, Cheryl David and her husband George, Utica, Joni Sparrow, Utica and Tammy Gilmore and her husband Jeffrey, Yorkville; three brothers, Alan Jones and his wife Debbie, Marcy, Dean Jones and his wife Pamela, Deerfield and Gregory Jones and his wife Colleen, Utica; two sisters-in-law who she considered to be more like sisters, Cindy Cirillo and her husband Carl, Clinton and Kim Gruenewald and her husband Kurt, Marcy and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are her two birds, Birdy and Stash. She was predeceased by her brother, Wilton Jones, Jr. Mrs. Herr's funeral will be held on Saturday January 6, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. Burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery will be held at the convenience of her family. Calling hours for family and friends are Friday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Mrs. Herr's family extends their heartfelt gratitude the Dr. Dilip Kachare and the staff of Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc. for the care and compassion given to Penny.
