Mr. Frederic (Rip) V. Courtade, III, of N. Utica passed away on Saturday November 3, 2007 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare in New Hartford after a long illness. Rip was born in Utica on April 6, 1960 the son of Frederic V. and Barbara M. (Leach) Courtade, Jr. He was raised locally and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. At one time, Rip was married to Cynthia Vanno. For 15 years, he was employed as a corrections officer with the NYS Department of Corrections and most recently with the Utica Department of Public works. Rip was a parishioner of St. Mark's Church, N. Utica and enjoyed working on cars. Rip is survived by his loving mother, Barbara Courtade, N. Utica; beloved son, Frederic V. Courtade, IV, N. Utica and his mother, Cynthia Landry, NY City; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Karen and Jack Seifert, New Hartford and Colleen Courtade, Rochester; two nephews, Max Seifert and Amy Chmielewski, Rochester and Emmett Seifert, New Hartford; a niece, Lillian Seifert, New Hartford and a special family friend, Mackenzie. He was predeceased by his father Frederic and a brother, Michael Courtade. Rip's funeral will be held on Tuesday November 6, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mark's Church, 440 Keyes Rd N. Utica, where his mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Utica. Calling hours for family and friends are Monday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica.
