Frank A. Potter, 85, of Whitesboro, passed away Friday, January 18, 2008 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center, New Hartford, after a long illness. Frank was born in Utica on September 28, 1922, the son of Allen B. and Georgette (Loiseau) Potter. He was raised and educated locally. After high school, Frank served his country with the US Coast Guard during World War II. Upon returning from the service, he went back to college, graduating from MVCC in 1948. On July 10, 1948, Frank married Joan LaRouche, with whom he shared a union of nearly 60 years. He was employed by Utica Mutual Insurance Company for 34 years, until his retirement in September of 1985. Frank enjoyed golf and did so into his eighties. He also enjoyed wood carving, especially of various kinds of birds. Frank was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church, New Hartford. Frank is survived by his wife, Joan, Whitesboro; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jo and Jeffrey Stevenson, Syracuse, NY; a son and two daughters-in-law, Frank A., Jr. and Colleen Potter, Coatesville, PA, and Mrs. Daniel M. (Marilou) Potter, MA; five grandchildren, Jennifer Caviness, and her husband, Paige, April, Kelly and Jeffrey Stevenson, and Cecelia Potter; one great granddaughter, Emily Caviness. He is predeceased by a son, Daniel M. Potter, and a brother, Allen B. Potter. A Memorial Mass for Frank will be held in the spring at Our Lady of the Rosary Church at a date at time to be announced. Those wishing may donate to the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association in Frank's memory. Arrangements are entrusted to the Heintz Funeral Home, 10 East Park Row, Clinton.
