Dorothy M. Knecht, 88, a resident of the Masonic Care Community, formerly of Country Club Courts, New York Mills, passed away May 7, 2008 at the home. Dorothy was born in Utica on July 6, 1919 a daughter of Charles and Marie (Hutchinson) Ransom. In 1942 in Utica Dorothy married George Knecht a blessed union of 46 years until his passing on April 30, 1988. For many years Dorothy was employed with Beaunit Fibers in Utica. She was of the Episcopal Faith. Dorothy is survived by two daughters; Jeanne Mozier, CA and Peggy McConkey and Brian Roy, Utica, four grandchildren; Christopher McConkey, Utica, Erin McConkey and fiancée Maurice Luck, Ilion, Daniel Mozier, GA, and Victoria Crowe and husband Ian, RI, two great grandchildren; Destiny Luck, Ilion and Edward Mozier, GA, a niece; Linda Russell and husband, Francis and their daughter, Elsie Russell of Whitesboro. Dorothy was predeceased by a brother; Everett Ransom, and a sister and brother-in-law; Eva and Harry Porter and a nephew; Thomas Porter. A funeral service for Mrs. Knecht will be held on Saturday May 10, 2008 at 4:00 pm at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., North Utica. Calling hours at the funeral home will be held on Saturday from 2 until time of service. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Masonic Care Amherst Community for all the loving care they gave to Dorothy.
