Dorothy E. Kain, 90, of Utica passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2008 in St. Luke's Hospital with her loving family by her side. Dorothy was born in Pittsfield, MA on September 12, 1917 the daughter of Andrew and Mae (Bain) Cook. At a young age Dorothy moved to Stittville to live with her uncle and aunt Jack and Carrie Cook and received her education in the Remsen School system. At St. Patrick's Church, Utica on February 2, 1942 Dorothy married Edward B. Kain a blessed union of 65 years until his passing away on May 23, 2007. For many years Dorothy was employed at the Boston Store in Utica and later co-owned and operated the Triangle Coffee Shop with her husband Edward. Dorothy truly enjoyed family gatherings especially the precious moments she shared with her loved ones during the holidays, family card games and her trips to Vernon Downs and the casino. Dorothy is survived by her devoted and loving daughter; Karen Ann Hameline, Utica, her three beloved sons and daughters-in-law; Terrence and Judith Kain, Utica, Brian and Kathy Kain, Utica, and Paul and Linda Kain, Yorkville, 11 cherished grandchildren and spouses; Corey Hameline, Christopher Hameline, Michael and Emily Kain, Kerri and Frank Cornacchia, Shawn and Diane Kain, Maureen Kain and Fiancée Stephen Rakes, Barry Kain, Brendan Kain, Meghan and Scott LaHart, Daniel Kain and fiancée Andrea Zick, and Eileen Kain, 6 Cherished great grandchildren; Nicholas and Abigail Cornacchia, Ian Kain, Ethan and Justin Kain, and Kyla LaHart, a brother and sister-in-law; Allan and Theresa Cook, MA, a sister-in-law; Marilyn Kain, New Hartford and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was predeceased by an infant grandson; Patrick Kain and four sisters; Helen, Edith, Gladys and Gloria. Mrs. Kain's funeral will be held on Saturday April 19, 2008 at 10:00 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Utica. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica are Friday from 4-8. Those so wishing may make donations to Autism Speaks or Our Lady of Lourdes School. The family would like to thank Dr. Dhabhar and the staff on 1 east of the Allen Calder Wing for all the kind and compassionate care they gave to Dorothy.
