Obituary of Doris Tritten

Mrs. Doris Rose Tritten, 84 a resident of the Masonic Care Community, formerly of Clinton St. Whitesboro passed away on Thursday December 27, 2007 at the nursing home. Doris was born in Utica on April 23, 1923 the daughter of William and Rose (Bellow) Hickey. She was raised locally, was a graduate of Utica Free Academy and in 1946 earned her RN license at St. Luke's School of Nursing. On July 31, 1948 Doris married John R. Tritten a union of 29 years until John's death in 1977. For many years she was employed as an RN with St. Luke's Memorial Hospital and later with Slocum Dickson Medical group until her retirement. She was a member of St. Joseph St. Patrick Church in Utica and the Lucy Kellogg group. Doris was a volunteer at St. Luke's Memorial Hospital, the Stanley Theatre and enjoyed crafts and crocheting. Mrs. Tritten is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Maureen R. and John A. Matt, Jr., Marcy and Amy M. and David Hemmerle, MD; one son and daughter-in-law, John R., Jr. and Lynn Tritten, LaFargeville, NY; five beloved grandchildren, John Matt III, Marcy, Michael Matt, Sand Diego, CA, Brady Hemmerle and Colleen Hemmerle both of MD and John A. Tritten, South Korea; three cherished great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Aubrey and John Matt IV and one brother and sister-in-law, William and Christa Hickey, Clark Mills; Also surviving are nieces and nephews. Mrs. Tritten's funeral will be held on Monday December 31, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph St. Patrick Church where her mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. A spring interment will be held in Higgins Bay Cemetery, Piseco Lake, NY. Calling hours for family and friends are Sunday 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. In lieu of Flowers please consider a donation to the Alzheimer's Association in Doris' memory. Mrs. Tritten's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Masonic Care Community, Placid Household, especially, Charmaine, Joyce, Vicky, Emily, and Vanessa for the compassionate care you provided to Doris. Your kindness and love will not be forgotten.
