Mr. Donald S. Sroka, 59, of Schuyler, NY, passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica. Donald was born in Utica on November 1, 1958, the son of Edward and Barbara (Usyk) Sroka and was a graduate of Whitesboro High School. On June 29, 1985, Donald was united in Marriage to Dawn K. Bosco, a loving union of 24 years until Dawn’s death in 2009. For over 25 years, Donald was employed as Schuyler Highway Superintendent. He was a life member of the Schuyler Volunteer Fire Department, was an avid NY Giants and Boston Red Sox fan and enjoyed snowmobiling. He was of the Catholic faith. Mr. Sroka is survived by two sisters and one brother-in-law, Karen and David Williams of NY Mills and Diane VanDusen of Schuyler; one nephew and two nieces, Ryan VanDusen and his fiancée Sarah Bolen of Schuyler, Kaylin Fitzsimons and her husband Chris of NY City and Shelly VanDusen of Schuyler; a great niece, Indianna and a great nephew, Roman as well as aunts and cousins. Besides his beloved wife Dawn, Donald was predeceased by his parents Edward and Barbara and his brother-in-law, Robert VanDusen. Calling hours for family and friends are Sunday, January 28, 2018 from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica, followed by a service and time to share memories of Donald. His spring burial will be in West Schuyler Cemetery.
