Mr. Daniel C. DesJardins, 74, "King of The Road" of Utica passed away at home on Wednesday May 21, 2008 with his loving family and pooch by his side. Daniel was born in Forestport, NY on March 6, 1934 the son of Charles and Anna (Marvin) DesJardins and was a graduate of Madison High School. Daniel was employed with Allied Van Lines for fifty years where he traveled the United States meeting numerous friends along the way. He was known for his perfection in "Master Moving" and safely driving his big eighteen wheeler millions of miles across the country. Mr. DesJardins is survived by his loving wife and personal cook, Joan "Flapper"; six daughters and two sons-in-law, Jill "daddy's little girl" of NC, Michele Raiano and Everett of Yorkville, Lisa Raiano and Laurie, Cindie and Rodney Gardner of AZ, Donnie Sue and Renny Tarbox of Mohawk and Tracie Rosati of Ilion; four sons and daughters-in-law, Douglas and Brandee DesJardins of AZ, Danny and Bonnie DesJardins of Frankfort, Ronnie and Diane DesJardins of Mohawk and John and Lori DesJardins of Frankfort; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Corde and Robert Cossitt of Hamilton and Nora and Stewart Link of Hubbardsville; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Tommy and Ina DesJardins of Morrisville, Charles DesJardins of CA, Louis and Lois DesJardins of Munnsville and Joseph DesJardins of Rome; father-in-law, Joseph Raiano of Marcy; his "Favorite" sister-in-law, Lorie Centolella; special niece, Kristen Centolella; 21 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, two grandsons, Jasin Wellington and SPC Douglas DesJardins and a sister-in-law, Mary DesJardins. Mr. DesJardins' funeral will be held on Saturday May 31, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. Interment will be held at the convenience of his family. Calling hours for family and friends are Friday 4:00-7:00 p.m. Daniel's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Razia's office for the care and compassion given to Daniel during this most difficult time.
