Bette J. Lockwood, 77, passed away on Friday, January 19, 2018. Bette was born on May 29, 1940 in Chateaugay, New York, a daughter of Evelyn Dunn. At an early age she came to Utica to live with her mother. Bette graduated from Oriskany Central School in 1956 and was employed at New York Telephone Co. On August 9, 1958, Bette married Herbert Lockwood in Oriskany. After leaving the phone company, she went to work at Marcy Psychiatric Center, where she was employed for over 30 years. Bette is survived by her husband, Herbert, of Westmoreland, two sons, Mark Lockwood and wife, Janice, of Cold Brook and Stephen Lockwood and Laurie Archer, of Floyd, two grandchildren, Stephen Jr. and Allison, of Floyd, a great grandson, Wyatt, a sister, Anne Grillo, of Jackson, MS, a brother, Tom and wife, Mary, of Watertown and several nieces and nephews. Bette was predeceased by a brother, Leslie. Calling hours for Mrs. Lockwood will be held on Tuesday, January 23, from 4-6 at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. A spring burial will take place in Carr Cemetery, Marcy. Those so wishing may make donations to Hospice & Palliative Care Inc. in Bette's memory.
