Blanche H. Dykty, 95, a resident of the Heritage Healthcare Center for over 23 years and formerly of North Utica passed away Tuesday evening March 4, 2008 at the home. Blanche was born in Glenville, CT on June 1, 1912 a daughter of Thomas and Aniela (Wrobel) Walawender and received her education in local schools. On June 9, 1935 Blanche married Sigmund J. Dykty at Holy Trinity Church, Utica, a Blessed union of 29 years until his death on February 14, 1964. Blanche was employed as a seamstress with the Lewis-Weller Manufacturing Co. for over 40 years after which time she became a nurse's aide at the Utica State Hospital retiring in 1977. Blanche will best be remembered by her family for her perseverance and integrity during the depression years. Blanche is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law; Nancy A. and Michael A. Greco, Eagle Bay, NY and Susan D. and William J. Williams, North Utica, a sister and brother-in-law; Helen and Walter Synakowski, Remsen, and a brother; Frank Walawender, Utica. She is also survived by 9 cherished grandchildren, 16 beloved great grandchildren and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Blanche was predeceased by a cherished grandson; Michael C. Greco, two sisters; Julia Walawender and Frances Lewis and two brothers; Walter and Stanley Walawender. Mrs. Dykty's funeral mass will be held on Friday March 7, 2008 at 10:30 at Holy Trinity Church, Utica. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Whitestown. In keeping with Blanche's wishes there are no calling hours. Those so wishing may make donations to the Heritage Home in Blanche's memory. Mrs. Dykty's family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Heritage Home especially the 4th floor for all the loving care and compassion given to Blanche.
