Mrs. Gertrude S. Williams, 86 of Yorkville passed away on Thursday August 17, 2006 at her home. Gertrude was born in Utica on February 29, 1920 the daughter of Edward J. and Dorothy M. (Achen) Seubert. She was raised and educated locally and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. On June 9, 1945 Gertrude married William W. Williams in St. Joseph Church, Utica. For many years she was employed with Dr Stephen Mahady, and later with Drs. Millett and Love until her retirement. After retirement she went to work as a book keeper with Friendly's Restaurant. Gertrude was an active parishioner and volunteer at Sacred Heart Church, Utica. She was a member of Rome YWCA where she enjoyed swimming a few days a week. Gertrude enjoyed gardening, sewing and taking trips with her many friends. Mrs. Williams is survived by Bill, her husband of 61 years; four children, Russell Williams and his wife Lynn, New Hartford, Kathleen Kennelty, New Hartford, Carol Williams, Rochester and Susan Maline, VA; seven grandchildren, Lisa Jones and her husband Dennis, New Hartford, Mark Williams and his wife Nicole, New Hampshire, Laura Williams, New Hartford, Sean Kennelty, Utica, Eric Kennelty, New Hartford, Matthew Maline Buffalo and Jared Maline, VA; two sisters, Dorothy Seubert, New Hartford and Sr. Edward Marie Seubert, OSF, Syracuse; five great grandchildren, Garrett, Colin, Christian Jones, and Ryan and Connor Williams; her dear friend of many years Eleanor Nadeau and her husband Ralph, New Hartford; special neighbors Tony and Diane Nackley and their children, Stephanie and Joey who were like family to her and Bill, as well as the many friends Gert made at the Rome YWCA especially Ruth, Renee and Doris. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many friends. She was predeceased by two sisters, Sr. M. Constance Seubert, OSF and Mildred Fox Merrill and one brother, Richard F. Seubert. Mrs. Williams' family extends their gratitude to the staff of the Aspen and Maple Wing of Presbyterian Home for the excellent care provided to Gert, and the staff of the Visiting Nurses Association for helping to fulfill her wish to return home. Mrs. Williams' funeral will be held on Monday August 21, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church where her Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Yorkville. Calling hours for family and friends are Sunday 3-6 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. Those so wishing may consider a donation to the Visiting Nurses Association of Utica and Oneida County, the Franciscan Sisters of Syracuse, or a charity of your choice in Gert's memory.
