Ernest W. Weeks, 77, of Whitesboro passed away Thursday June 29, 2006 at the Masonic Care Community. Ernie was born in Utica on March 2, 1929 a son of Ernest W. and Ann (Gaffney) Weeks Sr. He was a 1946 graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School and 1950 graduate of Utica College. At St. Joseph's Church, Utica on September 20, 1952 Ernie married Vivian Collins. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War serving with the 81st Airborne Paratroopers and achieved the rank of staff sergeant. For many years until his retirement in 1999 Ernie was an owner and operator of Stevens, Weeks and McEvoy Real Estate. He was a parishioner of St. Anne's Church, Whitesboro, a Eucharistic Minister, Lector and one of the first trustees of the church, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #189 and its' 4th Degree Assembly, past president of the Great Utica Catholic School Board, past Republican chairman of Whitesboro, past president of the Greater Utica Board of Realtors and a past member of the Nocturnal Adoration Society. Ernie is survived by his wife Vivian, four daughters, and three sons-in-law, Cathleen Weeks, Syracuse, Cynthia and Robert Knepka, Whitesboro, Mary Lourdes and Michael Kalil, Clinton, and Carolyn and Steven Yacco, Whitesboro, a son and daughter-in-law, Ernest and Mary Ellen Weeks III, Clinton, nine grandchildren, Ernest IV, Ashleigh and Leah Weeks, Caitlyn and Megan Knepka, Kacie, Lauren and Michael Kalil, Steven Jr., Jessica and Sarah Yacco, a brother and sister-in-law, James and Donna Weeks, Chadwicks and an aunt, Margaret Gaffney, Utica. Mr. Weeks' funeral with Military Honors will be held on Monday July 3, 2006 at 8:45 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and at 9:30 from St. Anne's Church, Whitesboro. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Sunday from 4-8. Those so wishing may make donations to the Community Foundation, FORCE Fund for St. Mary's Catholic School or Notre Dame High School. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the Masonic Care Community especially the Saratoga and Albany units, the rehabilitation department and the social service department for all the loving care they gave to Ernie. The Knights of Columbus will meet at the funeral home Sunday evening at 7:30.
