Clinton William F. Burns, 71, of Clinton, passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2006 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Bill was born in Clinton on September 12, 1935, the son of John and Julia (Helmuth) Burns. He was raised and educated locally. In 1952, he joined the US Air Force and served his country for four years. On July 27, 1957, Bill married Margaret Fahy, in St. Francis de Sales Church, Utica. He went on to work for Special Metals in New Hartford for over thirty years until his retirement in 1997. Bill was a member, a past Commander, and currently served as acting Chaplin for Helmuth-Ingalls American Legion Post 232. He was an Officer of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, and a member of the Clinton Fire Dept.. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, Clinton. Aside from the organizations Bill belonged to, he was an avid golfer and enjoyed gardening. Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret, Clinton; three daughters and sons-in-law, Julie and Mark Mangione, Hoffman Estates, IL, Peggy and Brian Kernich, Mt. Olive, IL, Tricia and Mick Tinsley, Arlington Heights, IL; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Claire Burns, Hampton, NH, John and Ellyn Burns, Hampton, NH; eleven cherished grandchildren, Michael and Molly Mangione, Conley and Delaney Burns, Krystina, Courtney, and Rachael Kernich, Alyson Burns, Jack, Ryan, and Patrick Tinsley; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary Siedsma, Clinton, Nancy and Richard Maxam, Clinton, a sister-in-law, Hazel Burns, Sherrill. Also surviving are three sisters-in-law and their husbands, Sally Catinella, Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Peters, and Mr. and Mrs. William Fahy, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Bill was predeceased by three infant daughters, Donna, Elizabeth, and Mary Alice; a brother, John Burns; and a sister, Anne Burns. Bill's funeral will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2006 at 9:15 am from the Heintz Funeral Home, 10 East Park Row, Clinton and at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Church, Clinton, where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Clinton. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 2 ? 4, and 6 ? 9 pm. Those wishing may make donations to St. Mary's Church in Bill's memory. Helmuth-Ingalls American Legion Post 232 will be conducting their services Friday evening at 7:00 pm.
