Armon J. Ricci Utica Armon J. Ricci, 91, of Utica passed away on Thursday May 11, 2006 at St. Luke's Hospital. Armon was born in Utica on December 30, 1914 a son of Giuseppe and Maria Dominica (Zegarelli) Ricci. Armon served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II, serving in the Pacific Theatre and participated in several invasions. At St. Anthony's Church, Utica on October 30, 1948 he married Florence (Babe) Burton a blessed union of 57 years. For many years until his retirement Armon owned and operated a painting contracting business in Utica. He was a member of St. Anthony's Church and St. Joseph's ? St. Patrick's Church, Utica and American Legion Fort Schuyler Post # 1290. In his youth Armon played semi-professional football and later coached numerous local baseball teams to name a few Ft. Schuyler Post 1290, Pony and Senior Babe Ruth Leagues and Roback Angels Traveling Team. He was an avid Yankee and Giants fan. Armon is survived by his wife Babe, three daughters, Florence (Cookie) Cooney and Earl Plante, Utica, Karen M. Ricci, Utica and Mary Beth Ricci, Marcy, a son, Armon Ricci Jr., and Karen Cassel, Whitesboro, five grandchildren, Colleen Volpe and husband Jim, LI, Tara Cooney, Jackie Cooney, Utica, Amber Cassel and Lindsey Ricci, Whitesboro, and a sister-in-law, Nancy Ricci, Utica. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Armon was predeceased by a sister and brother-in-law, Josephine and Frank Coreno, and two brothers and sister-in-law, Daniel Ricci and Dominick and Mary Ricci. Mr. Ricci's funeral with military honors will be held on Monday May 15, 2006 at 9:45 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and at 10:30 from St. Anthony's Church, Utica. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Utica. Calling hours at the funeral home are Sunday from 4-7. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to your favorite charity in Mr. Ricci's memory.
