Nellie Weir, 91 of the Heritage Health Care Center and formerly of North Utica passed away Monday December 11, 2006 at St. Luke's Hospital. Nellie was born in Herkimer on September 17, 1915 a daughter of Joseph and Helen (Tebinka) Nakoneczna. At Christ Episcopal Church in Herkimer on September 25, 1937 Nellie married Charles T. Weir. Mr. Weir passed away in 2001. For many years until her retirement Nellie was employed with the New York State Thruway at the Schuyler Rest Stop. In her early years she was employed at the Olympic Theatre in Utica. Nellie is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ronald and Donna Weir, Oriskany, and Randall Weir and Lee Ann Romanelli, North Utica, two grandsons, Ryan T. Weir, IN and Darren S. and wife Annmarie Weir, MA, a sister, Mildred Krenichyn, Herkimer, a brother, Michael Nakoneczny, Herkimer, two sisters-in-law, Verna Weir, Frankfort and Dorothy Weir, Schuyler, nieces, Carol Higgins and husband Charles, New Hartford, Denise Paul and daughter Tricia, CO, nephews, Jan Dobek and wife Mary, Herkimer and Kevin Krenichyn and wife Laura, Herkimer, Great nieces and nephews, Kevin Krenichyn, Kayla Krenichyn, Megan Dobek and Michael Dobek, and step grandchildren, Kelly, Tammy, Stacey and Thomas. Nellie was predeceased by two sisters, Anne Dobek and Mary Nakoneczna and a brother, Peter Nakoneczny. Mrs. Weir's funeral service will be held on Thursday December 14, 2006 at 10:00 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., North Utica with the Rev. Robert Bird officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Utica. Calling hours at the funeral home are Wednesday from 5-8. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the entire staff of the Heritage Health Care Center for all the loving care given to Nellie.
