Mrs. Kathleen G. (Bowen) Genter, 72, of Holland Patent, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2018 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare in New Hartford with her loving family by her side. Kathleen was born in Utica on August 12, 1945, the daughter of Preston and Gladys (Dziekonski) Bowen. She was raised and educated in Utica and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. In Utica, on November 13, 1965, Kathleen was united in Marriage to Edward R. Genter. For many years, she was employed as a nurse’s aide with various local nursing homes, including; the Charles Sitrin Nursing Home in New Hartford and the Martin Luther Nursing Home in Clinton. Kathleen enjoyed traveling, camping at Kayuta Lake, tending to her flower garden and will be remembered for her love of animals. Mrs. Genter is survived by her loving husband, Edward; one son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Lisa Genter of FL; her cherished grandson, Garrett Genter; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Erwin Bowen of Utica, David and Gail Bowen of Utica and Richard and Candy Bowen of Marcy; a sister-in-law, Nancy Genter of Kayuta Lake as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Preston and Gladys. Mrs. Genter’s funeral will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. Her Spring burial will be in Holland Patent Cemetery.
