Mrs. Mary M. Drury, 96 a resident of the Presbyterian home for CNY, New Hartford formerly of Stittville and Downer Ave, Utica passed away on Tuesday August 15, 2006 at the nursing home. Mary was born in Clinton, NY on July 19, 1910 the daughter of Edward and Mary (Williams) Jones. She was raised and educated in Marcy and Stittville and attended Holland Patent Schools. On November 25, 1931 Mary married Earl M. Drury Sr., in Stittville a devoted union of almost 68 years until Earl's death in 1999. As a young women Mary worked the family farm in Stittville, was later employed with W. T. Grants and for 20 years was head of the upstairs lunch counter as Neisners Department Store in Utica. Mary was extremely proud of her Welch heritage and performed in many Welch musicals were she received numerous awards for her singing. She was also a gifted pianist. Mary was a past member of both the Eastern star and Marcy Grange and a member of Grace Church, Utica. She had a true love of birds and animals and will most be remembered as a person who just enjoyed people. Mrs. Drury is survived by two daughters, Mary Miller, CA and Lorna Perry, Utica; two sons and three daughters-in-law, Earl and Christine Drury, Port Crane, NY, Francis W. and Joyce Drury, Liverpool, NY and Jane Drury, Endicott, NY; 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, Barb and Tom Guthrie and their children, Megan, Melissa and Michael; Tom and Gail Drury and their children Nicole and her daughter Tara and Andrea and Zach Stevens; Kathie and Todd Bushnell and their daughters, Katlin, Carrie and Kristine; Beth Ann Drury; David and Christie Drury and their sons, Matthew and Stephen; Wendy and Darren Rowlands and their sons, Billy, Tom and Wendell; Laurie and Gary Stottlar and their sons, Sean, Blaine and Christopher; Robert and Patty Humphrey and their daughter Ryan; Douglas Humphrey; Michelle and Carl Gustafson and their son Perry; Jon and Dianne Perry and their daughters, Danine and Keaton; Kimberly Perry and one nephew, Richard Jones, Utica. She was predeceased by a daughter and 4 sons-in-law, Dona and Robert Walawender, William Miller, Robert Humphrey and Raymond Perry; one grand daughter, Nadine Perry, one sister, Laura Jones and two brothers, Edward and Francis Jones. Mrs. Drury's funeral will be held on Saturday August 19, 2006 at 8:45 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and 9:30 at Grace Church. Interment will follow in Forest Hill cemetery, Utica. Calling hours for family and friends are Friday 5-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Presbyterian Home for CNY, the Stevens-Swan Humane Society or United Cerebral Palsy in Mary memory. Mrs. Drury's family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Presbyterian home especially those on Willow Unit for the care and compassion that was given and the many friendships that were formed over the past few years.
