Marion E. Berthold Utica-New Hartford Mrs. Marion E. Berthold, 95 a resident of the Sitrin Health Care Center, New Hartford, formerly of the Steinhorst Apts, Utica passed away on Saturday November 18, 2006 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Marion was born in Utica on March 3, 1911 the daughter of Frank and Rose E. (McCabe) Olcott. She was raised in Utica and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. On January 16, 1933 Marion married John H. Berthold in Endicott, NY a union of 34 years until John's death in 1967. As young women, Marion was employed with Brassels Restaurant and later with NY State Hospital until her retirement. After retirement she went to work with Wonder Bread where she worked as a demonstrator for 10 years. She was a member of the Mothers Club at the former St. Joseph's Church, a parishioner of St. Joseph St. Patrick Church, Utica and its Alter Rosary Society and Perpetual Adoration Society. Marion enjoyed crocheting, knitting, gardening and most especially spending time with her beloved family. Mrs. Berthold is survived by four daughters and two sons-in-law, Janet and Charles Stevens, VA, Joan Bolton, CO, Shirley and Dr. Stanley Wysocki, WA and Eleanor Wagner, NV; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Sherwood and Florence Berthold, Utica, John Berthold, VA and Terry and Debbi Berthold, Rochester; 27 grandchildren, David, Diane, Mike, Russell, Kathleen, Lynn, Jeff, Tim, Susan, Stephen, Danny, Donna, Sarah, Laura, Sherwood Jr., Jean, Bryan, Richard, Ann, Mandy, Molly, Katey, Jamie, Kelly, T.J., Tina and Julie; 34 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Mabel Hall, Marie Fitzsimmons and Mildred Burns and two brothers, Frank Olcott and George Olcott. Mrs. Berthold's funeral will be held on Wednesday November 22, 2006 at 10:15 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home 1517 Whitesboro St., and 11:00 at St. Joseph St. Patrick Church where her Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro. Calling hours for family and friends are Tuesday 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers please consider a contribution to Fr. Baker Foundation in Marion's memory. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Mrs. Berthold's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Sitrin Health Care Center especially the east and west 40 for the loving care given to Marion. Also a special thank you to the staff of the ER and 4th floor at St. Elizabeth Medical center for the care and compassion given to Marion.
