James H. Lorenz, 95, passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at MVHS Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. James was born in Clark Mills, NY on October 9, 1923, a son of Fremont and Mabel (Illingsworth) Lorenz. He was a graduate of Clinton Central School class of 1942. James proudly served in the US Navy during World War II, on the Aircraft Carrier the USS Wasp. In Utica on August 23, 1947, he was united in marriage to Rosemary Kistner, a blessed union of 55 years until her passing in 2002. James was employed at Special Metals retiring in 1985. He was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church. During high school James was a standout baseball player. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching baseball and golf. James is survived by his son, Stephen Lorenz and wife, Mary Anne, of Whitesboro; two granddaughters, Kathryn Sarachan and husband, Tom, of PA and Jennifer Badua and husband, Ben, of NJ and a great grandson, Arthur Sarachan, of PA. He was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Stressel, of RI and Ethel Jean Penrose, of FL. Mr. Lorenz’s funeral will be held on Monday, January 14, 2019 at 12:00 at Our Lady of the Rosary Church. A spring burial will be in Kirkland Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 13, 2019 from 3 – 5 at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. Those so wishing may make donations to the National Kidney Foundation in James’ memory.
